Cadillac EVs Finally Gain Access To Tesla Superchargers

Owners of electric Cadillac models can now charge their vehicles at Tesla Supercharger stations, thanks to the launch of the North American Charging Standard (NACS) DC adapter by the luxury marque, thereby expanding access to even more charging locations in North America.

The Tesla Supercharger network opens up access to over 17,800 charging stations, bringing the total to 231,800 public Level 2 and DC fast charging stations available to Caddy EV owners in the U.S. and Canada. The new NACS DC adapters, which are approved and sold by Cadillac parent, General Motors, will first be made available to customers in the U.S. before coming to Canada later this year.

In order to utilize Tesla Supercharger stations, U.S. customers will first need to purchased the approved NACS DC adapter via the Cadillac mobile app for $225 USD. The app will also allow customers to locate available Tesla Supercharger stations, monitor station status, begin charging their vehicles, and pay for charging sessions.

Owners of 2023 or 2024 model year Cadillac Lyriqs will need to purchase the NACS DC adapter in order to charge at a Tesla Supercharger station. Looking beyond that, the luxury marque indicated that its future EVs will be built with the proper adapter right from the factory.

“GM’s ongoing efforts to help accelerate the expansion of public charging infrastructure is an integral part of our commitment to an all-electric future,” said Wade Sheffer, vice president of GM Energy. “Enabling access to even more publicly available fast chargers represents yet another way GM is focused on further improving the customer experience and making the transition to electric more seamless.”

“Our mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy,” said Rebecca Tinucci, Tesla Senior Director of Charging Infrastructure, in a statement from 2023. “Giving every EV owner access to ubiquitous and reliable charging is a cornerstone of that mission. We’re excited to work with other industry leaders like General Motors to provide access to the Tesla Supercharger Network via the North American Charging Standard.”
