U.S. Cadillac Escalade slipped 13 percent the second quarter of 2024, slipping a slight one percent on a year-over-year basis.
Unlike in prior quarters, Cadillac did not provide sales figures for the regular wheelbase Escalade versus those of the longer Escalade ESV. As a result, sales of both models are reported on the Escalade line item for Q2 2024.

The next-closest competitor was the Lincoln Navigator. The Navigator (see running Lincoln Navigator sales), represented by the regular-length Navigator and extended-length Navigator L, experienced a 27 percent drop to 3,423 units. Meanwhile, the Infiniti QX80 saw a 24 percent decline to 2,243 units, and the Lexus LX brought up the rear with a 14 percent slip, moving 1,618 units.

Sales of full-size luxury SUVs slipped 18 percent to 17,353 units in Q2 2024, meaning that combined Escalade sales slightly outperformed the segment average.
For reference, we’ve included sales figures for full-size luxury crossovers below. Though they differ mechanically from the aforementioned body-on-frame SUVs by utilizing a unibody construction, they are typically cross-shopped and considered alternatives to regular full-size luxury SUVs. The only full-size luxury crossovers are the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, and Land Rover Range Rover. Audi is working on an upcoming Audi Q9 that will also compete with these models. Though the two Escalades outsold each of these nameplates individually, the BMW and Mercedes are catching up.

While the 13 percent downturn in Cadillac Escalade sales may seem concerning, it’s worth noting that the overall segment took a 17 percent tumble during Q2 2024. Additionally, the Escalade’s 58 percent segment share solidifies its place as the most popular vehicle in its segment, and no body-on-frame competitors can hold a candle to its domination. In fact, the Escalade outsold all of its rivals combined during the quarter.
However, the German unibody offerings – led by BMW and Mercedes-Benz – have certainly found their stride, and are catching up to the Escalade’s leading volume. What’s more, they’re doing this with a single body offering, as opposed to two for the Escalade.
The good news is that he refreshed 2025 Escalade is on the way. Just recently unveiled, it features redesigned headlights along with an overhauled cockpit highlighted by a curved coast-to-coast display 55-inch display.
But the 2025 Escalade won’t go unrivaled. The heavily revamped 2025 Lincoln Navigator just debuted as a more formidable rival to the Escalade. There’s still some time before the 2025 Navigator hits the market, and we wouldn’t hold our breath for it to overtake the Escalade in sales volume any time soon.
One of four new colors for the 2025 model year.
And it now represents the best value in its segment.
A curious sighting from a video of the Cadillac design studio.
