Our Cadillac Celestiq Convertible Rendering Looks Pretty Similar To The Sollei

Last year, Cadillac Society wondered what the Cadillac Celestiq ultra-luxury electric sedan would look like with the drop-top treatment, so we took a crack at rendering a completely hypothetical Celestiq convertible. When the luxury marque dropped the veil on its Cadillac Sollei concept convertible last month, we had to do a double take, since it looked so similar to our Celestiq convertible rendering.

Cadillac Society’s own Alex Luft saw the concept convertible in person, so check out the video below for his thoughts on the vehicle (and all the details).

Now, let’s take a look at the two vehicles side-by-side. Our make-believe Cadillac Celestiq convertible is dressed in a soothing, pastel yellow paint, almost a direct match to the Cadillac Sollei, which is coated in a color called Manila Cream, a retired hue borrowed from the luxury marque’s lineup in the mid-1950s.

When we chopped the top off our hypothetical Celestiq to make it into a convertible, we gave the windshield a steeper rake angle to make it more aerodynamic and give it an overall sportier appearance than its real-life four-door counterpart. The windshield of the Sollei follows this to a T, giving it a slippery profile ready to slice through the air at speed. However, while we shortened our hypothetical Celestiq convertible, the Sollei retains the long wheelbase and length of the Celestiq, appearing quite a bit longer than our make-believe drop-top.

Out back, our Celestiq convertible features a spoiler between the horizontally oriented running lights, which run into the rear quarter panels. The Cadillac Sollei, meanwhile, does not, opting for a sloping deck lid that curves into a rounded rear end, which features a horizontally-oriented lightbar. Both our rendering and the Sollei carry over the vertically-oriented tail lights lower within the rear fascia.

All in all, our rendering from one year ago is pretty damn close to the Sollei. At this time, Cadillac hasn’t announced any plans to produce the Sollei, or to offer the Celestiq in convertible form… but that could very well change in the future. If it does, you’ll hear all about it right here, so be sure to subscribe to Cadillac Society for more Cadillac Celestiq news and around-the-clock Cadillac news coverage.
