Cadillac Reveals Local Name Of Cadillac Optiq In China

The full Chinese name of the Cadillac Optiq, the latest addition to the luxury marque’s electric lineup in the country, has been revealed.

Much like the Cadillac Lyriq, which also features a Mandarin name for the Chinese market, the Cadillac Optiq takes on the name “傲歌” – or Aoge – in Mandarin. This moniker roughly translates to “Cutting-Edge Song,” aligning it with the Lyriq in the luxury marque’s music-inspired naming convention in China. As such, the full commercial name of the Optiq for the Chinese market will be Cadillac Optiq 傲歌. In fact, the 傲歌 name was selected Cadillac fans on social media. It was one of eight available choices for the luxury crossover, and won out with over 90 percent of votes.

As a reminder, the Optiq crossed the stage for the first time at the 2023 Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition, also known as the Guangzhou Auto Show, held annually in China. The luxury crossover’s introduction in the Asian country was not all that surprising, especially considering that its design was leaked there earlier this year. The Optiq will be produced in China as part of Cadillac’s joint venture in the country, SAIC-GM, while production for other markets will be handled in North America.

At this time, details regarding the Optiq’s performance, including specifications, have been kept close to the vest. However, we do know that it will ride on a smaller variant of the BEV3 platform, the dedicated architecture that currently underpins both the Lyriq and Celestiq. It is expected to become available for purchase in China in early 2024, with pricing information to be revealed soon.
