Owners of certain 2021 through 2024 model year Cadillac XT5 and Cadillac XT6 vehicles may notice a noise coming from the rear of their vehicles. Thankfully, the luxury marque has released a Customer Satisfaction Program to address the issue.
Affected units of the 2021 through 2024 Cadillac XT5 and XT6 may present with a humming, whining or squealing sound from the rear of the vehicle while traveling between 20 and 70 mph. The cause of the sound is likely a damaged bearing. A technician will inspect the vehicle and perform a test drive to replicate the concerning sound, and if a particular XT5 or XT6 is found to have the issue, the torque tube assembly will be replaced. The entire process should take approximately four hours to complete.
As a reminder, the Cadillac XT5 and XT6 are offered with two available powerplants. These are the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 engine (production code LGX), rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque (these models wear the 400 badge) and the turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY), rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque (these models get the 350T badge). Both engine options bolt to the nine-speed automatic transmission, which is the sole transmission available for both the XT5 and XT6. Front-wheel-drive is standard, while all-wheel-drive is optional.
Both luxury crossovers are underpinned by the C1 platform, while production of 2024 models kicked off in June 2023 at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.
It’s worth noting that the XT5 may be nearing the end of its lifespan in North America. While a second-gen model does exist, it will be sold exclusively in China, although the luxury marque is reportedly evaluating interest in the overhauled XT5 in North America.
Meanwhile, we are not aware of any plans to discontinue the XT6 anytime soon, although it missed its midcycle refresh, expected for the 2024 model year. Despite this, we haven’t spotted any undergoing testing thus far, making us wonder if a refresh is really on the way. To satisfy our own curiosity, though, Cadillac Society rendered what this model could look like.
