Cadillac Escalade IQ Will Eventually Offer A Smaller Battery

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ is a large full-size electric luxury SUV that boasts an equally large battery pack, but Cadillac Society recently learned that it will eventually be offered with a less robust battery pack.

At the vehicle’s reveal in August, Cadillac Society Executive Editor, Alex Luft, asked Escalade IQ Chief Engineer, Mandi Damman, whether any variants would be offered with smaller battery packs. Damman said, simply, “In time, there may be.”

At launch, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ will be exclusively offered with a 200 kWh 24-module battery pack, regardless of Luxury or Sport trim levels. This battery pack is capable of delivering a maximum 450 miles of driving range on a single charge, along with 680 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque in Normal Mode, bumped to 750 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque in Velocity Max mode. That’s quite a bit of juice, and the battery pack itself is quite expensive to boot, contributing to the luxury electric SUV’s $130,000 starting price tag.

With that in mind, a smaller battery pack would cut down on the vehicle’s weight, as well as its overall cost, although decreasing its size would also lower driving range and potentially power figures.

For reference, the Escalade IQ’s BT1 platform mate – the entry-level Chevrolet Silverado EV WT (Work Truck) – will soon offer a 20-module battery pack that will deliver an estimated 350 miles of range on a full charge. It stands to reason, then, that a smaller battery pack for the Cadillac Escalade IQ would also offer this smaller and less expensive pack at some point in time.
