Certain units of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq have been recalled due to missing pedestrian warning sounds.
The problem: affected units of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq may have body control modules (BCM) that have been updated with incorrectly calibrated software, which, in turn, will fail to produce pedestrian warning sounds.
The hazards: if the pedestrian warning sounds do not go off, pedestrians may be unaware of an approaching vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. This is particularly important in an electric vehicle like the Lyriq, which drives silently.
The fix: dealers will reprogram the BCM. This procedure will be performed at no cost to vehicle owners.
Affected components: body control module (BCM).
Affected vehicles: 2023 Cadillac Lyriq.
Number of affected vehicles: a total of 62 units of the Lyriq may be affected by this condition.
Next steps: owners of affected vehicles will be contacted with instructions to make an appointment with their preferred dealer to have this recall addressed.
