Cadillac parent company, General Motors, announced a reshuffling of its executive leadership on May 2nd, 2023, with the luxury marque at the heart of the changes. A new Vice President of Global Cadillac, John Roth, will be stepping up to take over the role as current Cadillac chief, Rory Harvey, is promoted to the role of President, GM North America.
The sequence of events was kicked off by Steve Carlisle, who has led GM North America since late 2020. After 41 years with the company, Carlisle has elected to retire, leaving his position vacant. Harvey was selected to succeed Carlisle, effective on June 1st, 2023, stepping away from his current role as Vice President of Global Cadillac after leading the luxury marque since late 2020. Prior to assuming this role, he was the president and managing director of of GM’s Africa and Middle East Operations from 2018 to 2020. From 2013 to 2018, Roth served as vice president of Sales, Service and Marketing for GM Canada, and has held various positions in leadership within Cadillac’s sales and service arms. So far, Roth’s career with GM and Cadillac has spanned 32 years.
Roth will be replaced by John Tavel, who has 21 years experience with GM, including as a chief engineer for several of EVs.
“I’d like to thank Steve for his tremendous leadership, collaboration across the company and dedicated years of service to GM,” said GM President, Mark Reuss, in a statement. “Along with Rory, Steve has played a significant role in the transformation of the Cadillac brand over the last several years and under his leadership our North American business is strong and well-positioned for future growth.”
