A Few Cadillac XT5 Units Recalled Over Potential Half-Shaft Separation Issue

Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, has issued a recall for certain units of the Cadillac XT5 luxury crossover to address an issue with the right front half-shaft assemblies.

The problem: if the right front half-shaft is defective, it could potentially decouple from the transmission under certain load conditions.

The hazards: if the right front half-shaft separates from the transmission, affected vehicles have an increased risk of being involved in a serious crash due to sudden loss of propulsion and mechanical braking.

The fix: a dealership technician will inspect the right front half-shaft and replace it if necessary. This procedure will be performed at no charge to Cadillac XT5 owners. Dealers have been instructed to wait to order necessary components due to the limited number of affected vehicles.

Affected components: right front (passenger side) half-shaft.

Affected vehicles: 2023 Cadillac XT5.

Number of affected vehicles: GM has indicated that only 10 vehicles are affected by this issue. However, it’s important to note that this figure also includes units of the 2023 GMC Acadia.

Next steps: owners of affected units of the Cadillac XT5 with instructions to make an appointment with their preferred dealer. To find out whether a particular XT5 is included in this recall, vehicle owners can visit my.cadillac.com/recalls and input their vehicle’s VIN. Additionally, owners may reach out to Cadillac or the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration (NTHSA) directly using the information included below to address any questions or concerns.
