Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, has released a service bulletin to address an issue with the internal seam and underbody sealers in the 2023 Cadillac XT5.
The problem: the internal seam and underbody sealer may have failed during in-plant adhesion testing.
The hazards: a failure occurring in the internal seam and underbody sealer could compromise the luxury crossover’s vehicle structure.
The fix: a dealership technician will inspect the sealer and apply new sealer to affected areas. The sealer should not be ordered from GMCCA (GM Customer Care & Afersales). Instead, 3M Bare Metal Sealer (part no. 8310) should be used. The repair process should take approximately four hours to complete.
Affected components: internal seam and underbody sealer.
Affected vehicles: 2023 Cadillac XT5.
Number of affected vehicles: Cadillac did not specify how many units of the 2023 Cadillac XT5 may be affected by this condition.
Next steps: owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail via a letter containing instructions on how to proceed. Additionally, owners can reach out to Cadillac directly using the contact information included below.
