The 2023 Cadillac XT5 is the seventh model year of the current, first-generation model. After receiving quite a few requests, Cadillac Society is now breaking down the luxury crossover’s towing capacities.
First, let’s review the powertrain lineup of the 2023 Cadillac XT5. The first is the turbocharged 2.0L engine (production code LSY) that’s standard on the Luxury (base) and Premium Luxury trims, where it makes 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. These models wear the 350T badge on the liftgate.
Meanwhile, the naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 (production code LGX) is optional on the Premium Luxury trim while being standard on the Sport model. The atmospheric six is rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. These models feature the 400 badge out back. Both engines mate to Cadillac’s nine-speed automatic transmission.
Additionally, we must note that, when outfitted with the optional Towing Package (production code V92), XT5 tow ratings increase significantly. Offered only on Premium Luxury and Sport models, the package includes the following content (relevant production codes listed in parentheses):
- Hitch Guidance (CTT)
- Hitch Guidance with Hitch View Hitch (PZ8)
- Hitch
- Hitch Cover
- Seven-wire trailer harness
- 170-amp alternator (Premium Luxury only) (KW7)
- Heavy-duty cooling system (Premium Luxury only, as it’s standard on Sport) (V08)
