2023 Cadillac Lyriq Recall Issued For Display Screen Problem

Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, has issued a recall for certain units of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq to address an issue with the vehicle’s display screen.

The problem: affected vehicles may have been equipped with a defective display screen that will occasionally perform a boot-up / shutdown cycle while the vehicle is parked and powered off. If the crossover’s door is opened, this process can be interrupted. If the process is disrupted during a specific five-second period, the display will remain blank. The blank screen condition is typically reset if the Cadillac Lyriq is powered down and turned back on again.

The hazards: if the vehicle’s display screen goes blank during vehicle operation, the instrument panel and other Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) features will not be available, thus increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: dealers will update the Cadillac Lyriq’s display screen control module software. Since all covered vehicles are under warranty, reimbursement for the procedure will not be available.

Affected components: display screen control module software

Affected vehicles: 2023 Cadillac Lyriq

Number of affected units: an estimated 168 units of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq are affected by this defect.

Next steps: Cadillac will begin contacting owners of affected units of the Cadillac Lyriq in November 2022. To find out whether a particular Lyriq  may have this condition, owners can visit my.cadillac.com/recalls and input their vehicle’s VIN.
