Heated Seats Are Now Being Retrofitted In 2022 Cadillac XT5, XT6

As Cadillac Society reported last year, certain units of the 2022 Cadillac XT5 and XT6 produced starting the week of November 15th, 2021, were assembled without comfort features such as heated and ventilated seats and without heated steering wheels due to the ongoing global microchip shortage. At the time, the luxury marque indicated that it would be possible to retrofit affected units with functional heated seats once the semiconductor shortage would allow, and now a new customer satisfaction campaign has been issued to make it happen.

Under normal circumstances, heated rear outboard seats are offered on the Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels of both the XT5 and XT6. The feature is not offered at all on the base Luxury trim for either crossover. Units of the XT5 or XT6 built without the features were offered a credit toward the vehicle’s MSRP, with the promise to have the features retrofitted in the future as the microchip shortage situation evolved.

Per a recent customer satisfaction campaign bulletin seen by Cadillac Society, dealers are instructed to install a new rear seat heater control module in affected units of the XT5 and XT6 luxury crossovers. The technician will then reprogram the body control module (BCM) in order to make the heated rear outboard seats functional. The procedure will be performed at no cost to the vehicle owner.

Both the 2022 Cadillac XT5 and XT6 are assembled at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, and are both underpinned by the luxury marque’s C1 platform. The 2022 model year has been built out, and production for the 2023 model year XT5 began on June 10th, 2022. At this time, it’s not clear if other comfort features aside from heated rear outboard seats are able to be retrofitted in units that were built without them.
