2023 Cadillac Escalade Gets Mandatory Three-Year OnStar & Connected Services Plan

Buyers of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade can expect the price of the luxury SUV to include a mandatory three-year OnStar & Connected Services Plan fee, Cadillac Society has learned.

At this time, it’s not clear how much the OnStar & Connected Services Plan (production code R9M) will add to the overall price of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade, but it’s worth noting that the plan is also included in vehicles made by other brands like Buick and GMC fielded by Cadillac parent, General Motors. For those marques, the feature subscription costs anywhere from $905 to $1,675, so it’s likely that the Escalade’s subscription will fall somewhere in that range.

As a reminder, OnStar & Connected Services adds an in-vehicle internet connection that powers apps like the smartphone-based remote key fob, Alexa AI Built-In AI assistant, Spotify, Audiobooks, navigation (including Maps+), among others. OnStar Safety Services are also bundled into the plan, and these include Automatic Crash Response, Roadside Assistance, and Stolen Vehicle Assistance.

A spokesperson told Cadillac Society that the inclusion of a mandatory three-year OnStar & Connected Services Plan serves to “enhance our customer’s ownership experience.” They also explained that the compulsory plan grants owners the full suite of OnStar & Connected Services for three years, allowing them “more time to enjoy” them, providing customer value and a seamless onboarding experience.

Fleet customers that purchase a 2023 Cadillac Escalade will gain access to OnStar Vehicle Insights, which replaces the Remote Access feature available to the mass market. This feature provides data such as oil life and fuel efficiency, as well as driver behavior metrics and daily trip summaries.

As a reminder, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade continues to ride on the body-on-frame T1 vehicle platform and is offered with a choice of two engines for the “regular” model. The first is the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 gasoline engine (production code L87), capable of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This engine is standard on the Escalade, and models with this motor wear the 600 badge on the liftgate. Meanwhile, the turbodiesel 3.0L I6 engine (production code LM2) is optional. It’s rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque; models with this engine used the 600D badge out back. Both engines mate to Cadillac’s 10-speed automatic transmission.

Joining the Escalade lineup for the 2023 model year is the all-new high-performance Cadillac Escalade-V, which features the supercharged 6.2L V8 engine (production code LT4) that’s tuned to deliver a whopping 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque, making it the most power Cadillac ever made. Production of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade range began on July 18th.
