Cadillac has issued a recall to address a possible issue that could affect the fuel tanks of certain units of the 2022 Cadillac XT5 and XT6 luxury crossovers.
The problem: the fuel tank rollover valve may not properly seat itself in the event of a rollover crash in affected vehicles, potentially causing a dangerous fuel leak.
The hazards: affected vehicles may leak fuel if a rollover crash occurs, increasing the risk of a fire.
The fix: dealers will be instructed to closely inspect the fuel tank in affected vehicles and replace the fuel tank shell if the rollover valve is dislodged or missing entirely. The repairs will be performed at no cost to vehicle owners.
Affected components: fuel tank rollover valve.
Affected vehicles:
Number of affected vehicles: a total of 228 vehicles are suspected to have been assembled with a faulty fuel tank rollover valve. It’s important to note that this figure includes not only the Cadillac XT5 and XT6, but also other crossovers built by Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors.
Next steps: owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail. Letters will be sent out on August 8th, 2022. The notification letters will provide instructions for vehicle owners to make an appointment with their preferred Cadillac dealer to have the inspection performed. Additionally, vehicle owners can visit my.cadillac.com/recalls and input their vehicle’s VIN or reach out to Cadillac or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NTHSA) directly using the information provided below to address any questions or concerns.
