2022 Cadillac Escalade To Start Production In Early October

The start of regular production (SORP) for the 2022 Cadillac Escalade is scheduled for October 6th, 2021 at the Arlington Assembly plant in Texas, Cadillac Society has learned.

The 2022 Cadillac Escalade represents the second model year of the all-new fifth generation Escalade, for which it will get a few very minor changes. These include three new exterior colors, a new Buckle-To-Drive feature, removal of the cabin air ionizer feature as well as the removal of the NFC mobile pairing feature.

The Cadillac Escalade has been outselling its rivals in the full-size luxury SUV segment by quite a large margin. In fact, during the first six months of 2021, the Escalade outsold all of its rivals on a combined basis, accounting for a 52 percent segment share.

Sales Numbers - Full-Size Luxury SUVs - H1 2021 - USA

MODEL YTD 21 / YTD 20 YTD 21 YTD 20 YTD 21 SHARE YTD 20 SHARE
CADILLAC ESCALADE +96.27% 20,716 10,555 52% 37%

LEXUS LX +26.19% 2,289 1,814 6% 6%
TOTAL +41.46% 39,864 28,180

As Cadillac’s most popular model, it would not be a surprise if the Escalade continued to dominate the sales ranks well into the future. In fact, the Escalade is such a strong competitor that cross-town rival, Lincoln, was recently spotted benchmarking a fifth-generation.

Once production begins, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade will continue to be offered in either the regular-length model or in the extended-length Escalade ESV, which features a wheelbase that’s 12 inches longer. The luxury SUV comes is offered with two engine choices: the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 gasoline motor (production code L87) rated at 420 horsepower and 460 foot-pounds of torque, or the turbo-diesel 3.0L I6 (production code LM2) rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Both engines bolt to the 10-speed automatic transmission, delivering power to either the vehicle’s rear axle or to all four wheels.

Per Cadillac’s Y-trim level strategy, five trim levels will be on offer. These include the base Luxury, followed by Premium Luxury and Premium Luxury Platinum as well as Sport and Sport Platinum.
