Cadillac has issued a service update for certain examples of the 2021 Cadillac Escalade equipped with the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assistance system.
The problem: on affected 2021 model year Cadillac Escalade vehicles, customers may notice that a new Super Cruise navigation map cannot be properly loaded onto the Super Cruise system. Additionally, the vehicle’s Super Cruise system could become inoperable and produce a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) related to the Image Processing Module.
The hazards: these issues can cause the Super Cruise system in affected vehicles to become inoperable. It does not pose an immediate safety risk to vehicle occupants, although customers will likely find it preferable if their vehicle’s Super Cruise system is working as intended.
The fix: Cadillac dealers will reprogram the vehicle’s Automatic Driving Mapping Module (AMM). Affected vehicles can also be fixed via an over-the-air-update.
Dealers are advised to perform this procedure on any vehicle with an “open” status on the Investigate Vehicle History (IVH) screen in the GM Global Warranty Management system. The status of the vehicles may be closed after an OTA update is performed, so dealers are advised to check the vehicle status on the IVH screen before attempting to install the updated software.
