2021 Cadillac XT6 Boasts Improved Fuel Economy Numbers

Fuel economy numbers for the 2021 Cadillac XT6 three-row luxury crossover are slightly better than those for the preceding model year, Cadillac Society has discovered.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Fuel Economy Comparison
2020 2021 +/- 2021
XT6 Turbo 2.0L I4 FWD N/A 21/27/23 N/A
XT6 Turbo 2.0L I4 AWD N/A 21/26/23 N/A
XT6 3.6L V6 FWD 18/25/20 19/26/21 +1/+1/+1
XT6 3.6L V6 AWD 17/24/20 18/25/21 +1/+1/+1

As shown in the table above, the figures for the 2021 Cadillac XT6 with the 3.6L V6 gasoline engine (production code LGX) are up by one mpg across the board, regardless of whether the vehicle has front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive. The XT6 has been available with the V6, rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, since it was introduced for the 2020 model year.

The table does not show an improvement for the turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY), which makes 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The reason is simple: although the 2.0L I4 was available in the XT6 in China, this was not the case in the United States until the 2021 Cadillac XT6 was launched. Therefore, there are no U.S. economy numbers for the 2020 model year.

The 2.0L I4 was introduced in conjunction with the new Luxury trim level, which becomes the new base model of the vehicle. The move brings the XT6 in line with the marque’s Y trim level strategy. There is a clear division between this version and the two which have been part of the range since 2020: Luxury models are exclusively powered by the 2.0L I4 engine, while the Premium Luxury and Sport trims are both powered by the 3.6L V6.

The XT6 is the largest crossover offered by Cadillac. It slots one level below the Escalade full-size SUV. The 2021 XT6 Luxury is priced to start at $50,410, including a $995 destination charge. The most affordable V6 version, with its newly-improved fuel economy, is the front-wheel-drive Premium Luxury, with an MSRP of $53,790.
