Service Bulletin Issued For 2021 Cadillac XT4, XT5 Engine Coolant Inlet Pipe

Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, has issued a service update for a very small number of the 2021 Cadillac XT4 compact luxury crossover and the XT5 midsize luxury crossover. The update relates to a potential problem regarding the engine coolant inlet pipe.

The problem: the engine coolant inlet pipe has a threaded hole for the engine coolant temperature sensor. On affected vehicles, this threaded hole may be obstructed.

The hazards: if the threaded hole is obstructed, the check engine light could come on the vehicle’s instrument cluster. A more serious potential hazard is that the problem could lead to a coolant leak.

The fix: Cadillac dealers will perform a leak check on the engine’s cooling system. If the system does not maintain the rated pressure for at least two minutes, dealers will replace the inlet pipe, temperature sensor, coolant and associated parts. The whole process will be done free of charge to owners.

Affected components:

  • Engine coolant inlet pipe
  • Engine coolant temperature sensor

Affected vehicles:

  • 2021 Cadillac XT4
  • 2021 Cadillac XT5

Next steps: Cadillac will notify owners of affected units of the XT4 and XT5 and instruct them to make an appointment with their preferred dealer. The bulletin expires at the end of each vehicle’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty period.

Only 15 GM vehicles are believed to be involved in this action, including two models produced by non-Cadillac brands.
