At least five future Cadillac electric models are slated to launch over the next few years. The onslaught will start with the Cadillac Lyriq – a midsize crossover slightly larger than the Cadillac XT5 currently on sale today.
The Lyriq will go into production in 2022 and will be joined by four other Cadillac electric models:
The Symboliq name follows the direction of Lyriq and Celestiq – the first two names announced in association with Cadillac electric vehicle efforts. Additionally, the Symboliq name has the “iq” suffix like Lyriq and Celestiq. The new naming convention marks a noteworthy departure from Cadillac’s current nomenclature of CT# for sedans and XT# for crossovers.
As of this writing, GM/Cadillac have yet to file a trademark application for the Symboliq name in the United States, but we’re sure that this will take place in due time. We’ll have more as it happens, so be sure to subscribe to Cadillac Society for more Cadillac Symboliq news, and around-the-clock Cadillac news coverage.
