2021 Cadillac Escalade Towing Capacity Revealed

The 2021 Escalade introduces an all-new fifth generation of the full-size SUV, complete with a new exterior, new interior, a new engine lineup, a new independent rear suspension, and a whole lot more. Now, Cadillac Society is bringing you exclusive coverage of the 2021 Cadillac Escalade towing capacity.

We’ve outlined the maximum tow ratings for the 2021 Escalade in the table below, breaking down the figures based on the engine, drive type, and body variant. We’ve also included the previous-generation Escalade (2015 through 2020 model years) for easy comparison against the 2021 Cadillac Escalade towing capacity figures.

Those who aren’t really into tables can just read this brief summary. With the standard 6.2L gasoline engine, max tow ratings are as follows:

  • 2021 Escalade 2WD models can tow up to 8,200 pounds while models equipped with 4WD can tow up to 8,000 pounds
  • 2021 Escalade ESV 2WD models can tow 8,100 pounds while ESV models equipped with 4WD can tow up to 7,900 pounds

With the optional, no-cost 3.0L diesel engine, max towing ratings are as follows:

As a reminder, the new Escalade is offered with either a 6.2L V8 engine or a 3.0L I6 turbo-diesel engine, either in 2WD or 4WD. Buyers have access to either the standard-length Escalade model, or the extended-length Escalade ESV.

A 10-speed automatic transmission is on deck for cog swaps on both engines.

Meanwhile, the outgoing Escalade is exclusively equipped the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 (production code L86), which also produces 420 horsepower, 460 pound-feet of torque, and was mated initially to an 8-speed automatic transmission that was replaced by a 10-speed auto for the 2018 model year.
