The 2020 Cadillac CT4 just made splashdown, hitting the C-segment luxury sedan segment to take on rivals like the Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan and CLA-Class “four-door coupe,” Audi A3, and upcoming BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe.
The new 2020 Cadillac CT4 follows the introduction of the go-fast CT4-V earlier this year, and precedes the release of the even-faster CT4-V Blackwing.
Under the hood, the new CT4 offers two turbocharged engines for motivation, starting with a 2.0L four-cylinder that produces 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and mates to an eight-speed automatic transmission. There’s also a 2.7L four-cylinder offered higher in the range, producing 309 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque in Premium Luxury models, and 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque in the CT4-V. The 2.7L mates to a 10-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Precision Shift. Rear-wheel-drive is standard, and all-wheel-drive is optional across the range.
Under the skin, the CT4 is based on a rear-wheel-drive architecture, and features double-pivot MacPherson-type front suspension with dual lower ball joints, plus Multi-Valve System passive dampers from ZF. Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 is equipped on V-Series rear-wheel-drive models, while big Brembo front brakes are equipped on Sport and V-Series.
Outside, buyers get 11 exterior colors to choose from. There are a number of distinguishing elements between the various trim levels, including the accents, grilles, and fascia treatments. Luxury and Premium models offer bright styling details, while the Sport and V-Series models offer darker accents. The sportier models also come with rocker extensions, a rear spoiler, and unique wheels. LED lighting is standard across the range.
Moving inside, the 2020 Cadillac CT4 offers eight different interior color, material and trim combinations to choose from. An eight-inch touchscreen and leather upholstery are both standard. The hands-free Super Cruise driver assist feature will be available next year.
To help the 2020 Cadillac CT4 get off the ground, Caddy is also launching a new social media campaign that seeks to “put viewers in the driver’s seat” through various posts to Instagram, YouTube and Twitter.
The 2020 Cadillac CT4 will be available to order later this year, with official pricing expected closer to the production date.
