2020 Cadillac XT6 Offers Two Different Headlamp Configurations

The 2020 Cadillac XT6 made its grand debut at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit as a “midsize-plus” offering with three rows of seats. With the first units of the Cadillac XT6 now arriving at dealers, it’s time to examine what the 2020 XT6 has to offer, starting with a look at the crossover’s eyes – the headlights.

The 2020 Cadillac XT6 offers two headlamp configurations. The first is the Bi-Function LED projector system. Assigned production code T4L, it is standard on both of XT6 trim levels – Premium Luxury and Sport. The second is the optional Premium Headlamp System. Serving as an upgrade to the standard set of headlights, the Premium System is optional on both trim levels and is assigned production code UWN.

Standard System – One Bi-Function LED Projector (T4L)

  • Cornering Lamps
  • IntelliBeam functionality
  • LED daytime-running lights that double as signature lamps

Up-Level System – Three LED Projectors (UWN)

  • One low beam (outboard) and two high beam (inboard)
  • Each headlamp includes as many as 16 individually-controlled LEDs
  • Cornering Lamps
  • IntelliBeam functionality
  • LED daytime-running lights that double as signature lamps
  • Adaptive functionality (market regulations allowing)

The big takeaways here are the greater illumination levels offered by the Premium Headlamp System thanks to the plethora of LEDs added per headlamp cluster, as well as improved adaptive functionality, which enables high-quality illumination of the surrounding landscape without dazzling oncoming drivers or pedestrians. However, this feature is currently not enabled in North America due to Federal Motor Vehicle regulations (more on that, later).

What’s more, it’s worth noting that both systems offer IntelliBeam, which automatically switches the high-beam lights on or off depending on the traffic conditions, as standard.

Stay tuned, because we’ll be covering additional features of the new 2020 Cadillac XT6 very soon. In the meantime, makes sure to subscribe to Cadillac Society for more Cadillac XT6 news and around-the-clock Cadillac news coverage.
