New Pictures Show Cadillac CT4-V In The Wild For The First Time

The 2020 Cadillac CT4-V made its official debut in Detroit in late May, being announced alongside its larger sibling, the Cadillac CT5-V. And now, for the first time ever, we have a new set of pictures that show the sporty subcompact four-door out and about on public streets without any camouflage whatsoever – giving us our best idea yet of the vehicle’s design.

Spotted cruising the rainy streets  of Metro Detroit, this CT4-V is finished in a dapper shade of gray. Up front is a blacked-out V-Series mesh upper and lower grilles, along with black trim pieces around the vertical signature accent lights, which serve as the Daytime Running Lights. Also note the bright accents surrounding the outer edges of the lower grille.

At the side, the Cadillac CT4-V features a black window trim and 18-inch wheels in a split-spoke design, which is very similar, if not identical, to the same-sized wheels offered on the outgoing Cadillac ATS. Also note the surface development at the lower edges of the door, starting at the front and running through the rear door.

Out back, we see clear (aka neutral density) taillight housings, a thin lip spoiler that accentuates the trunk line, and trapezoidal quad exhaust tips set in a black lower bumper cover.

Under the hood, the CT4-V is powered by the turbocharged 2.7L four-cylinder L3B engine, which is tuned to produce upwards of 320 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. All that power and torque is routed through the new 10-speed automatic transmission, with rear-wheel-drive as standard and all-wheel-drive being available as an option.

Rounding out the mechanical highlights are Brembo brakes out front, as well as a limited-slip differential in the rear. Rear-wheel-drive Cadillac CT4-V models are equipped with the famed Magnetic Ride Control, while all-wheel-drive models get ZF MVS passive dampers.

Under the skin, the Cadillac CT4-V is built on the famed Alpha platform, which serves as the basis for the CT5-V and served as the basis of the Cadillac ATS and CTS.

Inside, the fresh four-door comes to the party rocking an all-new cabin design, with a horizontal-focused layout and the latest Electronic Precision Shift gear selector. High-quality materials cover the seats, dashboard, door panels and center console. A tablet-like central infotainment screen sits atop the dashboard, and is controlled using either direct touch inputs or via the new rotary controls on the center console.

The Cadillac CT4-V will go on-sale later in 2019. When it does, it’ll go head-to-head with C-segment compact luxury sedans such as the Audi S3, Mercedes-Benz A35 AMG, and upcoming BMW 235i Grand Coupe. And in case you haven’t yet heard, there will be a higher-performing model to slot above this CT4-V. Cadillac briefly showed off a prototype of that “next-level” CT4-V at the Belle Isle Grand Prix earlier this month.
