Cadillac will relocate its headquarters back to Michigan from New York City, which the brand has called home for the last four years.
Recently-appointed Cadillac President Steve Carlisle confirmed the move in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.
“We’ve got to think about how we take inefficiencies out of the communication process between the Cadillac team and the GM partners”, the new chief was quoted as saying.
Carlisle cited “inefficiencies” in discussing the move, referring specifically to the upcoming onslaught of future Cadillac vehicles set to launch between now and the end of 2021, starting with the 2019 XT4.
Cadillac’s New York City headquarters housed marketing, strategy and advertising personnel. Vehicle development, design and engineering remained in Michigan.
It’s worth noting that the new Michigan-based Cadillac headquarters won’t be at the Renaissance Center office complex in Detroit that serves as the central offices for its parent, General Motors. Instead, Cadillac will call home a standalone office building in Warren, a town roughly 20 miles north of Detroit. The new Cadillac central office is right across the street from GM’s Warren Tech Center – one of the automaker’s primary vehicle and technology development facilities.
