SRX engine foam and plastic cover

SRX Engine looks too hot in a summer day. everything inside is scorching cables sparks plugs plastics and and …and it looks perfect hide and seek for rats and mices cables rodent to hide…
can I just simply remove that plastic and foam cover over the engine and add something under the top cover to prevent scorching paints on top? Certainly in the winter cold I will put all things back to cover again the engine. Did somebody tried do this?
