Cadillac has issued a recall for certain units of the 2024 Cadillac XT5 to address an issue with the luxury crossover’s airbags.
The problem: affected units of the 2024 Cadillac XT5 may have been fitted with an airbag cushion that may tear during deployment. This was caused by Cadillac’s airbag supplier making a design change, resulting in a small window during which faulty airbags were assembled.
The hazards: if the vehicle is equipped with a faulty front air bag module that tears during deployment, it can degrade airbag performance, thereby increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
The fix: dealers are instructed to replace the front airbag assembly with a redesigned model, free of charge to Cadillac XT5 owners.
Affected vehicles: 2024 Cadillac XT5.
Number of affected vehicles: 74 units of the 2024 XT5 built between February 16th and 26th, 2024.
Next steps: Cadillac will notify owners of affected units of the Cadillac XT5 by mail. Notification letters are expected to be sent out beginning on June 17th, 2024. Vehicle owners can visit my.cadillac.com/recalls and input their vehicle’s VIN to find out if a particular XT5 is included in this recall. Additionally, owners may reach out to Cadillac directly using the information included below to address any questions or concerns.
