Cadillac XT4 Recalled For Improperly Welded Driver’s Seat

Cadillac recently issued a product safety recall for certain units of the Cadillac XT4 luxury crossover over a potential issue with the structural integrity of the driver’s seat framing due to improper welding.

The problem: in affected units, the power tilt adjustment mechanism in the seat cushion frames may have been improperly welded, potentially compromising the structural integrity of the driver’s seat framing.

The hazards: if an improper weld is present in the driver’s seat framing, the seat may not properly support occupant loads in the event of a crash. This increases the risk of serious injury occurring to the driver’s seat occupant in affected units of the Cadillac XT4.

The fix: dealership technicians are instructed to replace the driver’s seat cushion frames in affected units of the Cadillac XT4 if necessary. The repairs will be performed at no cost to the vehicle owner. Additionally, dealers have been instructed to halt the sale of all affected units of the XT4 until the procedures outlined in the associated repair bulletin are performed.

Affected components: driver’s seat cushion frame, power tilt adjustment mechanism.

Affected vehicles: 2022 Cadillac XT4.

Number of affected vehicles: GM indicated that an estimated total of 245 vehicles have the aforementioned condition and require repairs, but it’s not clear how many vehicles will require inspection. It should be noted that this estimate includes not only units of the Cadillac XT4, but also those of several other non-Cadillac GM models.

Next steps: owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Cadillac with instructions to make an appointment with a preferred dealer. To find out whether a particular XT4 may have this condition, owners can visit my.cadillac.com/recalls and input their vehicle’s VIN. Additionally, owners may reach out to Cadillac or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) directly using the information included below to address any questions or concerns.
