Cadillac CT6-V And Third-Gen CTS-V Prices Very Close On Used Car Market

Although the Cadillac CT6-V and Cadillac CTS-V share the same general approach of combining top-shelf luxury with high-power engines and impressive driving dynamics, there are also plenty of differences between the two models. For example, sizing, platform, modernity, and technology are just a few of the areas where the two models diverge. Even so, pricing for these two performance luxury sedans on the used car market is surprisingly similar.

This should be particularly interesting for anyone considering to purchase one of the two performance luxury sedans. That’s because, despite the similarity in pricing, these two models are also quite different. The primary difference is the way in which both four-doors achieve their impressive performance: the third-gen CTS-V makes use of a supercharged 6.2L Small Block overhead valve / push-rod V8 (production code LT4) good for 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. By comparison, the CT6-V is powered by a much more modern twin-turbo dual overhead cam (DOHC) V8 codenamed Blackwing (production code LTA), making 550 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque.

Shifting duty in the CTS-V is done by an 8-speed automatic driving only the rear wheels, while the CT6-V uses a more advanced ten-speed automatic sending power to all four wheels by way of an all-wheel-drive system.

Another key difference is that the CT6-V is also significantly larger, with a wheelbase measuring in at 122.4 inches on to an overall length of 205.5 inches, as compared to the 114.6-inch wheelbase and 195.5-inch overall length of the CTS-V.

The CT6-V is also significantly newer than the CTS-V, going into production for the 2019 model year compared to the 2015 model year for the third-gen CTS-V. Finally, the CT6 offers cutting-edge technology not available in the CTS, such as Super Cruise, Cadillac’s semi-autonomous drive system.

Nevertheless, Cadillac Society analysis reveals that pricing for these two models is surprisingly close on the used car market – for now, at least.
