Cadillac is cooking up go-faster variants of the CT4-V and CT5-V, both which will offer a variety of performance upgrades and speed-tastic improvements over the “standard” model equivalents. A few days ago, we posted a run down on what we know about the the next-level Cadillac CT5-V, and now we’re checking out the next-level Cadillac CT4-V with the following spy photos.
Outside, we see this prototype model covered in black-and-white camouflage, which helps to hide the next-level Cadillac CT4-V’s styling and aero upgrades. Standout components will include a more aggressive demeanor thanks to a new front and rear fascia, plus wider wheels and bigger brakes.
What’s more, these pictures reveal new fender vents placed just behind the front wheels, a feature also seen on the larger next-level CT5-V, not to mention the Cadillac CTS-V.
Critically, the next-level Cadillac CT4-V is tipped to equip the same twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 engine (production code LF4) as the Cadillac ATS-V. Exact output figures are still under wraps, but under the hood of the ATS-V, the ‘six throws down upwards of 464 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque.
What’s more, sources have told us that the vehicle will be offered with either a ten-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual. Prototypes have been spotted with a stick, as indicated by the nature of the gear changes as the vehicles accelerate.
Originally, we were told by sources that the next-level Cadillac CT4-V would receive the “Blackwing” name, just like the larger next-level CT5-V. However, recent developments indicate that Caddy could take a different path with regard to naming conventions for both sedans, eschewing the Blackwing name entirely.
The Blackwing name was used to refer to the twin-turbo 4.2L V8 engine (production code LTA) under the hood of the Cadillac CT6-V. However, the next-level Cadillac CT4-V will forego that engine in lieu of the turbocharged six-cylinder mentioned above.
Look for the next-level Cadillac CT4-V to debut alongside the next-level CT5-V later this year, with sales kicking off in 2021.
