Cadillac CT4 Second Cadillac Model To Use Global B Electronic Architecture

The Cadillac CT4 is the indirect replacement for the now-discontinued Cadillac ATS, serving as the brand’s answer to German rivals like the Audi A3 family, the BMW 1 and 2 Series, as well as the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and CLA-Class. With that in mind, the CT4 is gonna need the latest and greatest electronic features that Cadillac can muster. In this case, the CT4 is built using the new Global B electronic architecture, Cadillac Society has learned.

Global B electronic architecture, as seen underpinning the Cadillac CT5

For those who may be unaware, the Global B electronic architecture was just officially announced earlier this year. Essentially acting as a vehicle’s electronic “nervous system,” Global B offers a host of benefits over previous electronic architectures, including much-improved connectivity, a fivefold increase in data processing power, as well as new over-the-air update capabilities for additional feature and benefits down the road.

While the Cadillac CT4 is built on a version of the Alpha platform similar to the Cadillac ATS, the CT4  is a radically different vehicle. The exterior styling, interior, and powertrain lineup significantly evolve the subcompact sedan compared to the ATS. And now, with confirmation that the CT4 also utilizes the all-new Global B electronic architecture, the CT4’s position as an all-new vehicle (as opposed to a “re-skinned” ATS) is solidified even further.

“As the automotive industry and vehicles evolve in the next five to 10 years, more electrical bandwidth and connectivity will be needed to ensure that features like electric propulsion systems, the Super Cruise driver assistance feature and advanced active safety systems can all run in conjunction with each other,” Cadillac stated in a recent press release announcing the arrival of the Global B electronic architecture.

The Cadillac CT4 follows its larger sibling, the Cadillac CT5, as the second model in the brand’s lineup to use Global B.
