2020 Cadillac CT4-V Debuts As Caddy’s Latest Sporty Subcompact

The new 2020 Cadillac CT4-V has made splashdown, debuting during a special event at Detroit’s Eastern Market.

The latest V-Series entry is distinguished by a new front fascia and unique styling, with dark accents added front to back. There’s a V-Series-specific mesh grille up front, standard 18-inch alloy wheels in the corners, and a unique rear spoiler in back. The tail section also sports quad exhaust tips.

Moving into the cabin, the 2020 Cadillac CT4-V gets a new cabin as well, with a horizontal control layout featuring Electronic Precision Shift technology. There’s also a new steering wheel and “unique performance persona instrument cluster.” Super Cruise semi-autonomous drive tech will be available.

Taking a peek under the hood, we find a turbocharged 2.7L four-cylinder engine, which is tuned to produce upwards of 320 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The four-cylinder is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, with rear-wheel drive as standard, and optional all-wheel drive.

Suspenders for rear-wheel-drive Cadillac CT4-V models include Magnetic Ride Control, while all-wheel-drive models are equipped with passive MVS dampers from ZF. The tire spec is also different depending on the drive type, with rear-wheel drive cars equipped with summer-only tires, and all-wheel drive cars equipped with all-season rubber. The rest of the spec includes a limited-slip rear differential and a big brake package from Brembo.

The Alpha 2 vehicle platform is used under the skin, which is the the same platform as the CT5 and CT5-V. The first-generation Alpha platform was introduced with the Cadillac ATS and CTS.

The 2020 Cadillac CT4-V will go on sale early in the 2020 calendar year. When it arrives, the four-door will go head-to-head with rivals like the Audi S3, BMW M235i Grand Coupe,  and Mercedes-AMG A35 and CLA35.
