If you needed another reason to be a Cadillac enthusiast, we have just the thing: the stunning Cadillac Escala concept car has approved for production. That much is according to a report from AutoForeCast Solutions, as covered by our sister site GM Authority.
The report states that instead of using an alpa-numeric CT# designation, the production model will simply be dubbed Escala. It will be based on the advanced Omega platform that currently underpins the Cadillac CT6 and enter production in the end of 2021 at General Motors’ Detroit-Hamtramck plant, which is currently home to the Cadillac CT6, Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Impala and Volt.
It’s unclear whether the liftback body style of the Escala concept car will carry over into production, or whether the final car will don a more conventional four-door sedan styling known in the industry as the “three box” design. GM Authority has previously rendered the Escala concept in a traditional sedan design, and we are included that image below.
The Escala Concept debuted at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, presenting the future Cadillac’s future design language inside and out. The vehicle was received to overly positive critical acclaim, with many fans wishing for the model be green-lit for production.
