I have a 2013 XTS Premium that the glace box will not open. The button when pushed makes a noise but will not release. Any ideas on how to get it open?

I had to take mine to the dealer when it did that. I believe they had to replace the locking mechanism, because it wasn’t fully retracting.

It appears the glove box door not opening is a common problem.

If you can get one side of the glove box door open enough to get some trimmer line in feed in about a foot and a half of line making sure you keep ahold of both ends then run the line down along both sides of the glove box door, the line will trip the latches and the door will fall open.

Next take a small file and file some of the edge off both the left and right latch, you should then have a working glove box.

Take it back to the dealer.

If you can get one side open, slide finger in and push in on the latch on the door. This will retract the stuck side also, hence the door will open. I guess I have to take it to the cadillac service to have the latch replaced. If anyone knows a fix without taking it to service, let me know. Hope this helps. I tried the trimmer thing and it did not work.

And in this case there is only one option and that is to go to the dealer.

There is a panel on the right side of the glove box that is hidden by the door. It just snaps off, no screws. If you take that off and look on the top left side you should see a little square plastic hole that has clip prongs coming from the inside of the glove box. Use a round rod smaller than a quarter inch diameter and gently insert it into that hole until the glove box door falls open. That should release the latching mechanism of the glove box. The latching mechanism is built into the door assembly. When you push this mechanism in from one side, it pulls both sides in.
