This feature was making me hate my XT5, but with a simple $188 purchase it is no longer an issue.
Found on Amazon and got it in 3 days, but can be purchased elsewhere. Took 10 seconds to plug it in and it is done.
Range Technology Plug & Play Start/Stop Disabler RA005B Compatible with 2004-2020 GM VehiclesMarch 6, 2021 at 9:48 am #805942WheelerParticipantAnyone know if this will work on the 2021 XT5 V6 as well? I would assume so but you know what happens when you assume…
March 6, 2021 at 11:39 am #80596HalParticipantThis device (I read this somewhere) makes the car think the engine hood has been opened and shut while the car is running, making it go into a service mode that disables the Auto/Stop feature each time you start the vehicle. That said, it should work with the V6, but after reading your query I realized you asked about a 2021. I would contact the manufacturer for sure.
Unplugging it returns the vehicle to normal, but why? I am loving this thing and this vehicle now.- This reply was modified 3 years, 9 months ago by Hal.
March 6, 2021 at 2:14 pm #806002WheelerParticipantThanks Hal. I sent an email to Range Technology; we’ll see if I get a reply. ( I agree. That auto stop/start is absolutely annoying!)
March 30, 2021 at 9:38 am #808182WheelerParticipantMr. Hal, I read a comment somewhere that if you leave the RA005B plugged in but don’t start the car for a few days, the battery may be drained enough so that the car won’t start. Can you confirm or do you run everyday so it’s not an issue?
March 31, 2021 at 7:58 pm #80848HalParticipantMy 2019 XT5 never sits for more than 3 days. No issues thus far though.

August 29, 2021 at 1:25 pm #82803GeneParticipantdoes anyone know if Cadillac offer an option through their service dept. to have the 2020 upgrade for the stop start override to be installed on a 2019 & older XT5?
Also does an after market disabler void the warrenty?February 9, 2022 at 8:52 pm #87505relieParticipantI bought the disabler for my 2017 and it made me love the xT5 again. I have since then bought a 2021 xT5 and they went back to the on/off. Button on the dash. Thanks Cadillac. ps I still have the disabler for the 2017 if anybody is interested.
May 11, 2022 at 8:21 am #89863vcrdoctor9ParticipantHi, I bought a cable from Amazon for about $25. It simply goes between the cable from the hood latch switch. I have a 2018 XT5. Take about 2 minutes to install. I also bought one for my 2020 Chevy Equinox as well and it works great!! Highly recommended!
May 12, 2022 at 4:57 pm #899892WheelerParticipantvcrdoctor9, could you identify the cable for us?
May 14, 2022 at 7:50 pm #90020vcrdoctor9ParticipantHi, I just did a search on Amazon. Just search for “Auto stop/start 20xx model”. Shipping was real fast. I got mine in a day!! There seems to be 2 different cables depending on the year. The difference is the size of the plug used. The seller was very fast in getting back to me as to what cable I needed for each car. One cable was $19 and the other was $25. I’ve had them in both cars now for over a week and they work great. I’m still getting used to the Equinox NOT stopping!Whenever I’m stopped at a red light I still anticipate the engine to shut off.
