I am having problems with my transmission temp climbing to 260 degrees without a load if driving in traffic on hot days. I had the fluid replaced and it helped a little but still getting hotter than I would like. I know there are issues with that transmission so I’m guessing my torque converter is causing excessive heat since before I changed the fluid, I was getting the converter shake at low speed/rpm. Before I dump lots of money into the converter or entire transmission I was hoping to upgrade the cooling system with an aftermarket front cooler with fan to run parallel with the system built into the radiator. However, it won’t make much of a difference if the thermostat is not allowing it to flow fluid at a lower temp. Has anyone done a transmission t-stat upgrade (aftermarket or whatever) as well as added a second heat exchanger up front? Any other information on my issue would be greatly appreciated. I am new to this forum so if there is already a thread, please let me know. Thanks!
