2020 Cadillac CT5 Gets Service Bulletin Over Steering Shaft Issue

2020 Cadillac CT5 Gets Service Bulletin Over Steering Shaft Issue

Cadillac has issued a service bulletin for certain examples of the 2020 model year Cadillac CT5 due to an issue related to the luxury sedan’s upper intermediate steering shaft.

According to the service bulletin sent to dealerships, in certain 2020 Cadillac CT5 models, the upper intermediate steering shaft may come in contact with the front brake fluid lines and chafe against it.

If the upper intermediate steering shaft makes contact with the front brake lines, it may cause wear or damage to the fluid lines.

Cadillac dealers are instructed to inspect the front brake lines and, if necessary, replace the front brake lines. These repairs will require dealers to replace a number of other related adjacent parts, as well, including the front lower control arm bolts, various AC compressor seals and an engine mount bolt.

This service bulletin was issued in January 2021 and carries the campaign number N202296840. Only 2020 model year Cadillac CT5 models are affected by this problem, and Cadillac will address this problem when customer vehicles return to the dealership for any reason. The bulletin will expire at the end of the affected vehicles’ New Vehicle Limited Warranty period.

The Cadillac CT5 was recalled late in 2020 for an issue related to the electronic brake boost system. That recall affected 3,677 units. In addition, service bulletin was issued in December 2020 for the CT5 to address a problem with the water pump, while another bulletin was sent to dealers regarding a differential control module problem in the CT5-V. On a brighter note, the Cadillac CT5 recently picked up a Consumer Guide Best Buy award in the Premium Midsize Cars Category.
